READING SUPPORT

READING SUPPORT  for Parents of Struggling Readers

At My Schooldog, we support parents who are struggling to help their children learn to read. Our reading support is created for English-reading families – with or without a dog. We are currently developing a range of services designed to give families practical guidance and motivation:

Online screening sessions
– to help identify possible reasons why a child may be finding reading difficult.

Parent discussion forum
– a safe space to share experiences, explore solutions, and find ways to boost your child’s reading motivation.

Mini-courses with home reading activities
– enjoyable family-based exercises to strengthen reading skills and rekindle the joy of reading, with or without a dog.

Ask-us email support
– send us your questions about possible next steps or practical ideas if your child is struggling with reading. We’ll do our best to help.

We take a holistic approach to understanding each child. Lack of reading motivation can have many different causes. Our services are designed to support parents at the starting point of their journey – helping them understand what their child might need and connecting them with others in similar situations.
Ultimately, the child’s school and local professionals provide the most important long-term help and follow-up, and we aim to complement that support in a positive, caring way.
