CHOOSE AND MATCH

We create our language games using a program called InPrint 3. InPrint 3 is ideal for creating high-quality bespoke symbolised resources for use in school, at home or within the wider community.

With access to over 20,000 symbols, a comprehensive vocabulary and 100s of easy-to use editable templates and ready-made resources, InPrint 3 enables SEN professionals, teachers, health practitioners, parents and carers to create an extensive variety of resources

Compound words - matching

In this game, large images of compound words are laid out on the floor. The images are A4 size and laminated in plastic. The two smaller images that correspond to each compound word are also cut out and laminated. These picture cards are mixed with several other cards on a table. A good starting point is to have 3 sheets of compound words on the floor and 6 cards with individual words on the table.

We play the matching game like this: the dog selects a compound word from the floor by pointing with its paw or snout (targeting). The child retrieves the card the dog points to and finds the two correct words/images on the table that together form the compound word. Hooray, we did it! Now the dog can be sent out to choose a new compound word from the floor
